I build the website first, then show it to you.
Most people selling you a website want a meeting, a deposit and six weeks before you see anything. I would rather just build it and let you look.
One page, quick on a phone, with your hours, your prices and a button that calls you. If you like it, we finish it and put it on your own domain. If you don't, you have lost nothing.
Email me about your business hello@walshwebstudio.com. I answer these myself, usually the same day.Four steps, and the first two are mine
-
I research your business
From what is already public: your listings, your menu or service list, your reviews, your social pages. Every fact on the draft traces back to a source.
-
I build the site and send you a link
A real working page, not a mockup. It carries a banner saying it is a design preview and not your official site, and it keeps that banner until you say yes.
-
We go through what I got wrong
Some of it will be wrong, because I built it from the outside. We sit down and correct the hours, the prices and anything else, and you confirm it in writing before it goes anywhere near the public.
-
You buy the domain and it goes live
In your name, on your card, with me sitting next to you. Takes ten minutes and costs about twelve dollars a year. Then I move the site onto it.
Every site includes this, without being asked
- Built for a phone first. Most people who look you up are on one, often in a car, deciding right now.
- Tap to call and tap for directions at the top, before anything else. For a local business those two are the whole point.
- Your real hours, showing open or closed as it actually is, in your timezone, not the visitor's.
- Search data built in. The structured markup that tells Google your address, phone and hours. Nobody sees it, and it is the part that moves local search.
- Works with the lights off. Light mode, dark mode, readable text, keyboard navigation.
- Loads nothing from anywhere else. No trackers, no font services, no script from a company you have never heard of. The whole site is one file.
- Google Business Profile set up with you, which for most local businesses is worth more than the website.
Two ways to do it
- The whole build
- Hosting and your domain renewal handled
- Unlimited small changes: prices, hours, holiday closures, a new service
- Stop any time with 30 days' notice and keep the site
- The same build
- Half on signing, half when it goes live
- Hosting still costs you nothing
- Changes after launch are quoted as they come
You pay the domain directly to the registrar, about $10 to $15 a year, on your own card. Two rounds of changes are included before launch either way.
Things worth saying out loud
You own the domain, not me. It is registered in your name on your card, and I never hold it. If you want to fire me you keep your site and your address, and that is the point. Holding a local business's domain hostage is a fast way to a bad name in a town this size.
I will not put photos on your site that aren't yours. The pictures on your Google and Yelp pages belong to the customers who took them. I could have used them and chose not to. The design is built to look finished without any photography, and then we drop your own photos in.
Nobody can promise you a ranking. I can make sure Google has your hours, your address and your phone in the format it wants, and that your listing is claimed and filled in properly. Anyone quoting you a position on page one is guessing.
Your nephew probably can build it. Genuinely. The question is who updates it in March when your prices change and he is back at school.
One person, from around here
My name is Kevin Walsh. I am from the Shawnee and Olathe area and I build websites for small businesses around the Kansas City metro, one at a time. There is no team, no account manager and no ticket system. You email me and I answer.
I work with owner-operated businesses: restaurants, salons and barbers, groomers, trades, small shops. If you are a franchise or a chain, I am probably not who you need.
Walsh Web Studio is a service business. I come to you or we talk on the phone, so there is no shop to visit.
Tell me the name of your business
That is genuinely all I need to start. Send me the name and the town and I will have a look at what is already out there for you.
Email hello@walshwebstudio.com If you would rather talk, say so in the email and give me a couple of times that suit you.
